Zumasys, Inc. Adds Trapeze Networks to Portfolio of Wireless Solutions
Integrator Offers "Thin" Access Points & New Wireless LAN Switches for Secure Wi-Fi Networks
October 21, 2004
Zumasys, Inc. announced today that it has entered into a reseller agreement with Trapeze Networks, a leading provider of centrally managed Wi-Fi network solutions for warehouse, campus and large coverage area 802.11x deployments. The Trapeze Mobility SystemTM includes Trapeze's Mobility ExchangeTM switches that allow for centralized management of Ethernet powered "thin" Mobility PointTM access points(APs). Using Trapeze's powerful RingMasterTM software tool, customers can use one common interface to design, deploy and manage their wireless networks. The combined solution provides secure mobility for roaming users, sophisticated services for both users and IT, and the lowest total cost of ownership of any WLAN infrastructure provider.
"Traditional wireless networks rely on fat access points that create huge security holes for enterprise networks," said Dan Putnam, VP Sales for Zumasys. "Trapeze offers a smarter, centralized approach that is ideal for customers with a large number of APs, higher security requirements or spread out campus/warehouse environments."
Wireless LAN switches take the security burden off access points and place it on more powerful, dedicated CPUs within a switch. Now Access Points are simply transceivers that lead back to one place: the WLAN switch. All the intelligence is centralized on a device that is equipped with more resources and optimized for mobility management, and -- above all -- security. Using technologies such as 802.1x, WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) and RADIUS servers, Trapeze's WLAN switches keep hackers off your network, segmenting wireless users effectively within the network while facilitating easier management.
"Our business strategy is based on forming strategic partnerships with resellers who have an established reputation in the wireless sector," said James H. Miller, Vice President of Americas Sales for Trapeze Networks. "Zumasys has a clear vision to provide best of breed wireless solutions for mobile LAN and WAN wireless users and we are pleased to be partnering with them."
With their increased power, Trapeze Wireless LAN switches also offer more effective security mechanisms such as 802.1x and AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), which are not vulnerable to any known cracking techniques.
