In Loving Memory of Jay Otto
I am very saddened to report that Jay Otto, a valued member of the Zumasys
team since our inception, and a close personal friend, passed away on
March 29, 2007. Jay was 37-years-old.
Jay passed away at 7:25pm on Thursday evening in the comfort of his
home surrounded by his family—those who loved him most were able to
say goodbye and we are all very thankful for that opportunity. Jay leaves
behind a wife Barbie Otto, a one year old son Jay Jr. and three wonderful
stepsons.
Jay fought a nearly 18-month battle with Melanoma. He was
courageous to the end and remained a constant source of inspiration to us
all. Jay’s calm, steady personality was a source of comfort to his co-workers,
our customers, our vendors and just about everybody who came in
contact with him.

Remove Disk I/O Bottlenecks on Your D3, Universe or Unidata System
It is a well known fact that many servers running databases such as Exchange, SQL or even D3, Universe and Unidata are “I/O bound,” meaning that the speed of most disk technologies just can’t keep up.
With the performance gap between processors and hard drive-based
storage systems widening, solid state storage is entering the limelight.
Because solid state systems rely on memory chips for data storage,
they offer unprecedented access times, which narrows the gap
between the processor speeds and storage speeds. Solid state disks
store and access data directly on RAM chips, which results in storage
speeds far greater than conventional, magnetic storage devices. Nonvolatility is achieved through the integration of internal battery systems and disk backup systems. Zumasys offers a full line of storage solutions including the RAM-SAN from Texas Memory Systems as well as iSCSI and 4GB Fibre SANs solutions from NetApp & Hewlett Packard. Find out which storage technology is best for your company by contacting us at 866-ZUMASYS option 2.

Are You Ready for Virtualization?
VMware is an exciting and rapidly evolving software platform that allows you to consolidate multiple physical servers
onto a single virtualized platform—this allows you to take full advantage of the unused processor power and
disk storage in your environment. With VMware, as many as 30 virtual servers can run on a single Intel server which is easier to deploy and maintain. Plus multiple environments such as Exchange 2000, Exchange 2003, Linux, Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 can run together in harmony because VMware takes over the machine and provides dedicated space for each environment. VMware reduces server sprawl, slashes power consumption and minimizes space requirements which offers several benefits including the ability to move your servers into a hardened data center. When connected to a SAN, additional VMware modules offer powerful redundancy features such as VMotion and DRS which allow you to move virtual machines dynamically from one machine to another and speed server recovery times.

Simplify Printing with ThinPrint
If you run Terminal Services and/or Citrix you know that printing can be a challenge over a WAN or with select devices. ThinPrint simplifies printing by replacing the entire print subsystem with a rock solid foundation that works every time. ThinPrint allows you to print to a wider variety of printers and map and save default printers with ease. High performance print data compression of down to two percent of original size, connection specific bandwidth control, SSL encryption of print data, a tracking service for analyzing printing costs, and the company’s own Driver Free Printing are only a few of the innovative, unique technologies that ensure a high performance print architecture. Zumasys offers 30-day demo licenses of ThinPrint. To get your copy, contact the Zumasys sales department at 866-ZUMASYS option 2 or via email.

Connect Your Buildings with Gigabit Wireless
BridgeWave Communications is the leading supplier of Gigabit wireless links. BridgeWave’s products are the highest performing and the first and only 60GHz gigabit products below $20,000 for a full link. BridgeWave provides all required mount and installation accessories with the link - all that must be added is the user site fiber and power cabling. The BridgeWave Gigabit Ethernet Link is available through Zumasys today. Start benefiting from:
- Narrow Beam Antennas -- The very narrow beam associated with 60GHz radios enables multiple 60GHz radios to be installed on the same rooftop or mast, even if they are all operating at the same transmit and receive frequencies
- Easy to Install and Align -- While the beam width is much narrower than for other license-free and licensed-band radios, it is still wide enough to be accurately aligned by a non-expert installer with the use of a simple visual alignment tool
- Oxygen Absorption and Security -- Oxygen attenuates 60GHz signals, a property that is unique to the 60GHz spectrum. While this limits the distances that 60GHz links can cover, it also offers interference and security advantages when compared to other wireless technologies. Small beam sizes coupled with oxygen absorption makes these links highly immune to interference from other 60GHz radios
- License-Free Spectrum -- The FCC allocated an unprecedented 7GHz of un-channelized spectrum for license-free operation between 57-64GHz. This compares to less than 0.5GHz of spectrum allocated between 2-6GHz for WiFi and other license-free applications. For the first time, sufficient spectrum has been allocated to make possible multi-gigabit Radio Frequency (RF) links

Zumasys Named to Inc. Magazine’s List of the 5,000
Fastest Growing Private Companies in America
Lake Forest, California – August 23, 2007 – Zumasys announced today that it earned a position on the Inc. 5,000 List, which recognizes America’s fastest growing privately-held companies. Zumasys’growth of 92% over the past four years qualified the company for placement on the nationally recognized list.
Historically, Inc Magazine’s annual list recognized 500 companies, but this year it was expanded to include 5,000 dynamic businesses that are leading the way in job creation and economic growth. The top 500 companies will appear in the September 2007 issue of Inc. Magazine and all 5,000 will be featured on Inc.com. In September, all companies will be recognized at the 2007 Inc. 500 conference in Chicago.
“The Inc. 5,000 provides the most comprehensive look ever at the most important part of the economy – the entrepreneurial part,” said Inc. 5,000 Project Manager Jim Melloan. “The expansion of the list has allowed us to tell the stories of larger companies, older companies, and a wealth of companies in industries like Manufacturing and Construction that are underreported in the business media.”
