Mulit-Value/Pick Solutions: Raining Data/D3 NT UPDATE

February 22, 2007

Dear Raining Data SMA Customer:

We’ve been monitoring the performance of D3 NT closely and would like to provide you with important update information regarding your version 7.5 release. The latest Patch release, Service Pack 2, made available on January 13, 2007, is ready for download and contains several noteworthy fixes to improve your D3 NT 7.5 stability. We strongly recommend that you update to Service Pack 2 (D3 NT 7.5.2) if you are running prior releases (D3 NT 7.5.0 or 7.5.1). For your convenience, attached is a current list of your active install sites available for the 7.5.2 update.

FSI Resizing Large items are rehashed and refiled properly during an FSI file resize. In releases 7.5.0 and 7.5.1, if an FSI file resize was performed, pointer items (large items) were not updated properly - leaving the potential for item corruption. When such items were refiled, an Application Event Log occurred with the description: “Group crossing detected. Large item rebuilt, D3_Store.” and the update did not complete. The best methods for repairing rehashed large records are:

Copy the records of a resized file out to another file, clear the original file, and then copy the records back OR file-save and restore from tape

Printing User logging off now releases all its printer workspace. In releases 7.5.0 and 7.5.1, if a port performed printing, logged off, and then later logged back on, there was a potential for that port’s workspace to be doubly defined.

Logoff The logoff command no longer incorrectly kills printers. In releases 7.5.0 and 7.5.1, using the logoff command (i.e. ‘logoff [port#]’), where a printer number with the same number as the port# existed, the logoff port# would also kill that printer#.

FlashBASIC FlashBASIC string math comparison has been corrected. In releases 7.5.0 and 7.5.1, the FlashBASIC compare of a null to a decimal point “.” would incorrectly return true.

D3 Start The boot process has been made more robust so the subsequent reboot of the Virtual Machine Environment (VME) completes if power is lost. In releases 7.5.0 and 7.5.1, the spooler table could be corrupted if the computer lost power (turned off without VME shutdown).

Product Update The current general availability release of D3 NT is version 7.5.2.480 and includes the Service Pack 2 Patch release. Therefore, if you are updating from releases prior to 7.5, you need only update to this full release to receive all enhancements and fixes to date. The update is available free of charge to licensed D3 NT customers with a Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA). To order media or purchase new licenses, please fax your purchase order to (949) 334-0288 or e-mail sales@zumasys.com (shipping charges may apply). This update is also available for download from Raining Data's ftp site.
