Customers can now provision VMware Virtual Servers in the Cloud on demand
IRVINE, CALIFORNIA — February 1, 2011 – Zumasys, a leading provider of Cloud Computing solutions to small-and-medium sized businesses, announced today that it has joined the VMware Service Provider Program (VSPP). Specializing in migrating custom software applications to the Cloud, Zumasys will use the program to increase the availability and affordability of the latest virtualization software and services, by offering VMware technologies on a rental basis.
The combination of the VSPP program and the new VMware vCloud Director™ architecture is also helping to facilitate the build out of Zumasys’ second production site. Expected to be online in Q1 of 2011, the platform will be housed within the 407,000 sq. ft. SuperNAP data center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Zumasys has been operating a disaster recovery site in SuperNAP for the last two years and the new build will convert this into a second production site, offering an increased measure of geographic diversity for Zumasys’ primary co-location facility located in Irvine, California.
“VMware is pleased to welcome Zumasys to the VMware Service Provider Program,” said Geoff Waters, director of emerging channels, VMware. “Zumasys has a proven 5-year track record of providing cloud computing solutions to small to medium businesses using VMware virtualization and cloud infrastructure solutions. Zumasys is a valuable addition to our program and we look forward to accelerating their ability to deliver our latest technologies.”
“VMware vCloud™ Director makes deploying new applications to Cloud fast, easy and affordable,” says Paul Giobbi, President of Zumasys. “The flexibility of leveraging public, private and onsite clouds will benefit our customers and we are pleased to be at the forefront of this exciting technology. VMware vCloud Director and the VSPP program are helping Zumasys fulfill its vision of load balancing applications across numerous enterprise-class data centers, spanning multiple metro markets.”
Instead of paying for dedicated servers to run core business applications, Zumasys’ Cloud Computing model allows customers to dynamically scale their applications on a multi-tenanted farm of servers running numerous virtual machines each. If capacity demand rises, additional server and storage resources can be provisioned automatically. Zumasys uses best of breed technologies from VMware, NetApp and Cisco to provide enterprise-class computing for a fraction of the normal cost.
“Zumasys provides full outsourced hosting and they were less expensive than the other players we researched,” says Brian Mellen, VP of IT for Conglobal Industries. “With a lot of the other companies, I was going to be a small fish in a big pond. Zumasys is the backbone of our IT infrastructure.”
