Business Development Associate – Sales Team

The Business Development Associate is responsible for supporting the needs of the Solutions Consultants (Sales) team by generating leads through outbound calling campaigns. The individual in this role must have excellent communication skills; in-person, on the phone, and in writing. The primary responsibilities of this role are focused on lead development, client information gathering, appointment setting, and database updating. Must be able to work independently to manage multiple projects/tasks to meet required deadlines. Must maintain a solid understanding of Zumasys products and services, technology tools, and corporate messaging materials. Must complete training and education of the portfolio of products and services and maintain updates in training as new versions or options are presented. This role is based from the Irvine office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identifies prospects by reading online database lists, or other prepared lists
  • Develop sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts by region and by industry; soliciting new accounts; building rapport; providing limited technical information and explanations
  • Craft professional and informative emails to solicit interest from prospects
  • Develop strategy in how to tackle prospecting when reps are requesting opportunities for drop-ins during travel
  • Calls prospective customers to establish interest, develop cold or warm leads, and set appointments for calls or meetings with a Solutions Consultant.
  • Maintains accurate accounts of daily activities in ConnectWise – including but not limited to: new prospect additions, notes on research, appointments set, communications with clients or Zumasys personnel as it pertains to a customer
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments on behalf of reps, by making myself an extension of our Z Consultant to present our team as unified and informed (sample email below)
  • Follow up with any leads from software downloads
    • Assess the customer’s needs
    • Set appointments
    • Follow up email/calls
  • Maintain product knowledge of the service offerings of the company
  • Develop and maintain a positive rapport with prospects/customers and work to give them the best possible service
  • Occasionally offers assistance to Technical Support – answering help desk calls
  • Follow company procedures and guidelines, and escalate to management for direction in an undocumented situation

Job Requirements

  • Attend scheduled sales meetings and ensure sales opportunities are compliant with company policy
  • Develop knowledge of the product and service catalog and how it relates to customer’s needs
  • Accomplish department and organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new anddifferent requests
  • Understand and become proficient in Zumasys business applications to support the job functions.Methods of learning include self-paced training, online classes and team member knowledge transfer.Included but not limited to ConnectWise, QuoteWerks, MS Office Suite, Lync, ShoreTel Communicatorand vendor quoting and configuration tools.
  • Assist on Marketing projects such as:
    • Local recruitment for various in-house events
      • Includes research in types of businesses to recruit
      • Phone calls, follow up emails
      • Confirmation calls
    • Follow up with leads
      • Calls – assessing client needs
      • Set appointment for rep through these warm/hot leads
    • Zumapalooza/Events
      • Recruit registrants from database and daily contact
      • Follow up with registered guests with reminders
      • Maintain a list of registered guests, find assigned rep and remind reps to book executivemeetings (daily-weekly)
    • Follow up with events such as webinars and gather feedback and/or possibly set anappointment

Required Qualifications

  • Prefer some experience in sales prospecting and qualifying leads
  • Knowledge of ConnectWise a plus
  • Ability to handle rejection encountered in the sales process
  • Proficient with general office applications
  • Enjoy working with customers and external audiences
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
  • Interpersonal skills: such as telephony skills, communication skills, active listening and customer-care
  • Skill in preparing written communications and materials
  • Self-motivated and self-driven; goal-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly in a fast-paced environment

  • Typing skills to ensure quick and accurate data entry
