IRVINE, CALIFORNIA—November 7, 2013 – Zumasys, a leading provider of cloud computing and infrastructure solutions to small and medium-sized businesses, announced its goal to raise $100,000 for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. The funds raised will provide Thanksgiving meals for more than 2000 families in Orange County.
In Orange County, nearly 13% of the population struggles with hunger. Over half of the 400,000 people in need are children and seniors. Through the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, $42 will provide a nutritious Thanksgiving meal to a family in need this Thanksgiving. Zumasys will match every donation up to $50,000, so one donation of $42 will actually feed two families.
“We started working with Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County after they were selected as the top recipient of our 1% Program last year,” explains Zumasys President Paul Giobbi. “Since then, we’ve been incredibly inspired by the work that they do, and we are committed to strengthening our partnership to help them end hunger in Orange County.”
Through its 1% Program, Zumasys has pledged to give away 1% of its annual revenue to nonprofit organizations nominated and selected by employees. The company has set a goal of donating $1 million to nonprofits by 2016. In 2012, Zumasys employees selected Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County to receive $25,000, the program’s largest donation. Over the last year, the company has also volunteered its time to help the nonprofit sort and pack food for distribution.
“Our goal has always been to create a company that cares about more than just the bottom line,” says Giobbi. “The Thanksgiving fundraiser with Second Harvest is a way for everyone—our employees, customers, and friends—to give thanks for what they have by giving to those less fortunate.”
